Strike affects life nationwide

KATHMANDU, April 7: Around a dozen vehicles were vandalized across the country on Sunday during the nationwide strike called by a coalition of 33 political parties. The life across the country came to a standstill as public transport, markets and private offices remain shut.



According to Ministry of Home Affairs, the strike enforcers vandalized two buses, two trucks, three jeeps, and five motorbikes as well as one tipper. Similarly, bandh enforcers also vandalized Electricity Authority Office in Kanchanpur and three other private offices.[break]



The police arrested 26 people, including 2 women, involved in enforcing the strike. Meanwhile, Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu informed that 16 people were arrested in the Kathmandu Valley.



Supporters of the strike vandalized a truck (Na 3 Kha 2513) with a petrol bomb in Birganj.



Likewise, the bandh enforcers briefly clashed with students of Mahendra Multiple Campus in Dang district. The activists tried to close the campus, while the students were adamant to continue their study.
