KATHMANDU, Feb 19: A meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPN (Unified Socialist) is being held to take a decision on the US funded Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The party’s Spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada informed that the meeting will be held at 11AM in Baneshwor.
According to him, the report submitted by the MCC study task force to the Central Secretariat will be discussed and a conclusion will be drawn whether to endorse the agreement through parliament.
Although the government is preparing to table MCC in the parliament, the Maoist (Center) and the Unified Socialists are opposing the decision. The Maoists have decided not to move the MCC forward in the current situation.
The Unified Socialists will take a decision today. A meeting of the ruling coalition is being held on Sunday. The House of Representatives meeting is also scheduled for Sunday.
