SPORTS BRIEFS: Times, Rehdon win

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Times and Rehdon College won their respective matches on Sunday in the TIA Cup Nine-a-side Football Tournament being held in the capital. Times edged past Ashirwad 2-1 with a goal each from Bibek Ale and Ajay Tamang. Similarly, Rehdon saw off Everest 3-1. Akash Shrestha, Saroj Dangol and Bijay Shrestha achieved the target for Rehdon while Jitendra Shrestha netted a consolation goal for Everest. Saipal College and Geeta Mata emerged victorious in other matches. Saipal thumped San College 6-0 and Geeta Mata crushed Arunima College 5-0 with a hat-trick from Ajay Bamjan.



Baba, LRI finish third



KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Baba and host LRI finished third in the boys´ and girls´ sections respectively on Sunday in the LRI Valley-wide Inter-school Basketball Tournament held in the capital. In the boys´ third-place playoff, Baba defeated The Excelsior 52-41 with 20 points from Finju Sherpa. In the girls´ section, LRI overcame Shridiwa 19-10 to secure third position. Suprigya Karki contributed the highest nine points for LRI. The finals of both sections will be held on Monday. Host LRI will take on Pushpa Sadan in the boys´ title decider while Gyanodaya will face Valley Public in the girls´ final.
