Playing with a handicap of 11, Pandey scored 34 stableford points to claim the title. Subodh Thapa scored 33 stableford points on the count back to finish runner-up. [break]
President of Gokarna Golf Club, Suhrid Ghimire finished as second runner-up. Rekha Ghimire won the women´s category with 35 stableford points.
Ang Tshiring Sherpa claimed best gross award and Suryansh Chaudhary won the best junior golfer award. Gopal Chitrakar took home most birdies award, KNS Thapa took the closest to the pin and Dr Bhagwan Koirala won the longest drive.
Altogether, 23 golfers had competed in the tournament played under stableford 3/4 handicap format.
President of Chaudhary Group Binod Chaudhary, President of CG Golf Course Basant Mishra and Captain of CG Golf Course Sudhir Rai distributed the prizes.
Mulmi, Dhungana in billiard final
KATHMANDU: Saroj Kumar Mulmi and Tipjal Dhungana of Central Region will lock horns in the final of billiard and snooker in the Sixth National Games underway at the National Table Tennis Center, Lainchaur, Kathmandu. During the best of nine semifinal match played on Saturday, Mulmi edged past Niraj Thapa Magar 5-2. In another semifinal, Dhungana registered a hard fought 5-4 win over Raja Lama. All the semifinalist were from Central Region. The final, best of 11, will be held on Sunday.
Khumaltar lifts Sunakothi Cup
KATHMANDU: Khumaltar Yuva Club on Saturday lifted the title of Sunakothi Cup Open Lalitpur District-Wide Football Tournament being held in the capital. Khumaltar registered a thumping 5-0 win over Everyday FC in the final. In course of achieving the comfortable win, Rajkaji Thapa gave early sixth minute lead to the winning side while Ranjan Bista netted twice. Suraj Raut and Suwarna Jha scored one apiece.
Everyday´s frequent attempts were denied by heroic saves of Khumaltar goalie Dhiraj Sunar who was later adjudged the-man-of-the-match. Binoj Rai of Everyday got the best striker of the tournament and Khumaltar coach Pradip Maharjan got the best coach award. The tournament was organized by sunakothi.com.
