SPORTS BRIEFS: NSC appoints 4 new chief coaches

KATHMANDU, May 27: National Sports Council (NSC) appointed new chief coaches of the three sports- namely boxing, volleyball and bodybuilding on Sunday. Om kumar Maskey replaced Prachanda Sharma in boxing while Kapil Kishor Shrestha replaced Shanti Gurung in volleyball.



Likewise, NSC appointed Gyanendra Nakarmi in place of Rajendra Tuladhar in bodybuilding. [break]Meanwhile, NSC appointed Dinesh Nakarmi as a chief coach of basketball. Earlier, basketball didn´t have chief coach at the NSC.



NSC Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama said that all the changes were made in terms of newly introduced working procedure of the NSC Training Department. "We want to decentralize the training programs and what we have done is just a begining," said Lama.


NeBA prez Lama elected in FIBA Asia

KATHMANDU: Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA) President Lama Tendi Sherpa has been elected executive member of the central board of Asian Basketball Federation (FIBA Asia). The meeting of South Asian Basketball Association meeting held during FIBA Asia Congress on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia elected Lama for the post.



Altogether seven South Asian Countries were present at the meeting . Afghanistan did not attend the meeting. Accroding to Sherpa, he got all seven votes of the South Asian region. This is the first occasion that any official of NeBA has been elected in the central board of FIBA Asia.
