SPORTS BRIEFS: Nepali judokas crash out from group stage

KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Both Nepali judokas crashed out from the group stage of the World Judo Championship being held in Tokyo, Japan. Debu Thapa who represented Nepal in women´s 63 kg was beaten by Alica Schesingpegieir of Israel on the basis of ippon.



Likewise, Parshuram Tharu who competed in men´s 60 kg was defeated by Zuan Pestingos of Peru on the basis of ippon. [break]Altogether, 44 players in women´s and 74 players in men´s sections are participating in the event.



Shakya, Oli selected



Bhupesh Shakya and Birendra Oli have been selected under karate for the 12th Asian Kyokushin Championship to be held in Kazakhstan on October 16 and 17. Shakya secured first position and Oli finished second in the qualifiers held at Tripureshwar. The duo will play in the open weight category.
