U-14 storm into pre-quarters
Nepali U-14 team stormed into the pre-quarterfinals of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament being held in New Delhi, India. The Nepali team, which is participating in the name of Takshashila Academy, thrashed Lakshadweep 25-0 on Wednesday after a goalless draw with Manipur in the league stage on Tuesday.
Likewise, on Thursday they enjoyed walkover from Uttarakhand. In their 25-0 drubbing of Lakshadweep, Nepali skipper Heman Gurung netted 10 goals while Krishna Raj Lama scored five, Pramal Thapa scored three and Suraj Lama scored two. Shikarmani Kafle, Nabin Gurung and Aitaraj Limbu scored one each for Nepal. The Nepali team will play the pre-quarterfinal match on Friday.
Cycling to get support
Korean Cycling Association (KCA) is set to provide equipments and technical support worth Rs 2 million to Nepal Cycling Association (NCA) for organizing the 2012 World Cycling Championships Series.
NCA president Chimi Orken Gurung said KCA president Cho Hi Huk has pledged to provide technical assistance to build a race course for the championships which will be held either in Pokhara or Kathmandu. Huk has also agreed to provide electronic time-sets and walkie-talkies required for the race, according to Gurung.
The World Cycling Championships Series is scheduled to be held in November 2012.
Lyceum in quarterfinal
Lyceum, Wilson Academy and Deneb School on Thursday advanced into the junior boys´ quarterfinal of the ongoing Teresa Inter-school Basketball Tournament. Lyceum beat Odyssey International 26-23 as Bidur Khatri scored 10 points for the winners. Deneb defeated Reliance 18-15 after Rakesh scored 12 points for them.
Likewise, Wilson, riding on 15 points of Sunil Khatri, thrashed Unique 46-36. Meanwhile, hosts Teresa Academy lost to NIMS in the junior girls´ category on Thursday. NIMS struggled past Teresa 22-21 while Deneb got walkover from Ganesh School.
