SPORTS BRIEFS: KU hammer Nandi Ratri

KATHMANDU, July 27: KU High School hammered Nandi Ratri High School 9-1 on Tuesday in the Coca Cola Cup Inter-school Girls´ National Football Tournament underway at the Chyasal grounds.



Prasita Baskota completed a hat-trick for KU while Ribisha Pokharel and Preity Kharel netted a brace each. Likewise, Samikshya DC and Krishna Prajapati added one each. Alisha Shah netted the consolation for Nandi Ratri. [break]



In another match, Nightingale enjoyed walkover from Xavier International.





Joshi, Malla in second round



KATHMANDU, July 27: Anushka Joshi and Anushka Malla made it through to the second round on Tuesday in U-14 girls´ singles category in the Second Kesa Group Junior Tennis Initiative Open Tennis Tournament at the Satdobato tennis court. Joshi registered a comfortable 9-0 win over Anusya Gosai while Malla edged past Sushma Karki 9-6.



In the same age group, Rinchen Dolma, Sunila Lahiya and Gita Shrestha also advanced into the second round.



In U-16 boys´ singles category, Milan Rokka, David Tako, Prabesh Chhetri, Somaz Shrestha, Brahmanda Sing Moktan and Pranzal Kayastha won their respective first-round matches.



In U-14 boys´ singles category, Anish Bhusal, Prakash Sharma, Anubhav Bhattachan, Sushil Bhandari, Brahmanda Sing Moktan, Abhishankar Timilsina, Anubhav Shrestha, Pranav Kayastha, Subodh Udas, Kevin Gurung, Saksham Karki, Abhilash Khatri, Avishek Bastola, Suyash Nahata, Gaurav Shahi and Abhaya Gauchan won their respective first round matches.
