Jyoti Rana, the president of the organizer Manajayakar Tennis Academy, said at a press conference that the championship will include 11 events and a total cash prize of Rs 135,000.
The junior singles boys´ and girls´ section will include U-16, U-14, U-12, U-10 and U-9 events while the above-14 category will include junior boys´ and girls´ doubles.
The championship being organized with support of Nepal Lawn Tennis Association will see participation of over 250 players.
Gyankunj announces cricketing center
Gyankunj College announced launching of ´Centre for Cricketing Excellence (GKCCE)´ program with technical support from Shangri-La Cricket Academy on Tuesday.
Tarakanta Nepal, the principal of the college, informed that the program aims to provide best coaching along with an academic career for cricketers.
National player Dipendra Chaudhari is director of cricket while Surya Thapaliya is project director.
According to Nepal, the program will kick off in mid January with 12 players selected from across the country.
K & K College into second round
K & K College Kathmandu entered the second round of Akhil Cup -2009 on Tuesday.
K & K thrashed New Summit 4-0 in the first round of the tournament organized by the CPN-UML´s All Nepal National Free Students Union, Bagmati zonal committee.
Sanjib Karki completed his hat-trick for the winner while Budda Kutu added one more in the match played at the Chyasal football ground.
Likewise, Thapathali Engineering College and Koteshwar Campus won their respective matches. Koteshwar defeated Himalayan College of Agriculture Science and Technology 3-0.
Umesh Magar scored twice while Bishnu Phuyal added one more for the winning team. Thapathali beat Saraswati ´B´ 1-0 as Yuvaraj Lama scored for the winner.
Three more cricketers called for SAG camp
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has added three cricketers to the list of 28 cricketers selected during the first round for the 11th South Asian Games (SAG).
Subash Khakurel of Kathmandu, and Pradeep Sapkota and Sunil Shah of Birgunj were added in the U-21 team that will participate in the regional event to be held from January 29 to February 8, 2010.
There is a provision for players who made to the final 18 of the recently held ACC Twenty20 held in UAE to qualify automatically for the upcoming SAG, provided that their age does not exceed 21 years.
Gyanendra Malla, Binod Bhandari, Naresh Budhaair, Amrit Chand and Chandra Saud will qualify for the SAG team as they participated in the ACC Twenty20.
Eighteen players are likely to be shortlisted within a week. But left-handed spinner Lal Bahadur Adhikari will not be included in the cricket team as one of his fingers got fractured and he will be taking rest for three weeks.
