AVM, Bijeshwari champions
KATHMANDU: AVM and Bijeshwari School won the team championship title in the boys´ and girls´ category respectively in the 4th Gautam Buddha Memorial Inter-school Table Tennis Tournament on Tuesday. AVM defeated Siddhartha Vanasthali in the boys´ final while Bijeshwari beat DAV for the title. In the U-10 boys´ singles, Ravi Dulal won gold defeating Raju Shrestha 11-7, 3-11, 11-8, 11-8.
Saipal, CCRC enter final
KATHMANDU: Saipal Academy and CCRC confirmed their spots in the final of the First Columbus Cup Boys´ Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. Saipal thrashed host Columbus 104-61 while CCRC defeated Gyan Niketan 71-31.
Swimming tourney postponed
KATHMANDU: The 16th National Open and Age Group Swimming Tournament has been postponed due to technical glitches. The tournament that was scheduled to start from Wednesday has been rescheduled for Thursday. The president of the association Samim Miya Ansari on Tuesday informed about the change in schedule.
KCTC wins
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Cricket Training Center (KCTC) registered a 69-run win over SXICA, Kerala on Tuesday in a T20 match played at the Engineering Ground, Pulchowk. Winning the toss, KCTC scored 143 runs losing four wickets. Abhay Paudel scored 57 runs off 46 balls with eight fours and a six. Defending the target, Satindra Basnet and Rajan Karki took three wickets each as KCTC restricted SXICA to 55 runs in 12.1 overs.
Lovely Angels registers win
KATHMANDU: Lovely Angels School, Pushpa Lal Memorial, Loyalty and Ever Vision registered wins in the Coca-cola Inter-school Boys´ and Girls´ National Football Tournament on Tuesday. In the matches played at ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Lovely Angels defeated Saraswati School 2-1 in tie-breaker, after the regular time ended in a goalless draw. In the second match, a goal each from Kapil Chalise and Surendra Luitel guided Pushpa Lal Memorial to a 2-1 victory over Laxmipur Secondary School. Saroj Dangol scored a consolation goal for Laxmipur. In the third match, Loyalty defeated Prashanti Siksha Sadan 1-0. Ashok Shrestha scored the decider for Loyalty. Likewise, Ever Vision edged pasted KU High School 1-0 in the last match of the day with a lone goal from Surya Magar.
