Saipal, Ace into last four
KATHMANDU: Saipal Academy and Ace advanced into the semifinals of the First British Council A Level Sports Meet on Thursday winning their respective matches in the girls´ section. Saipal beat GEMS 22-20 with the help of 12 points from Maya Rai while Ace thrashed Modern Indian School 28-10. Meanwhile, Trinity beat Global College 18-10 and Lumbini edged past Rupy´s 10-12 to complete the semifinal line-up. In the boys´ section, Rupy´s earned a hard-fought 42-41 win over MIS, while Trinity beat GEMS 32-12 and Orient defeated Malpi 28-16.
Mt Kailash beats New Vision
KATHMANDU: Mount Kailash struggled to defeat New Vision 12-11 in the Second Neric-Zenith Inter-school Basketball Tournament in the senior girls´ category on Thursday. Resham Gurung scored seven points for the winning team. In another match, Valley Public beat Neric 25-18. In the senior boys´ section, Mount Glory defeated Neric 21-17. In the junior boys´ section, Radiant Academy and Grammar School won their respective matches.
Sachindra Memorial basketball from Sunday
KATHMANDU: The second edition of Sachindra Memorial Men´s Open Basketball Tournament will begin from Sunday at the Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC), Minbhawan, Kathmandu. The event being organized by friends of late pilot Sachindra Shrestha, who died during a plane crash two years ago, will feature altogether eight teams. The seven-day long tournament will be played under league cum knockout format. GoldenGate, Samakhusi, NASA and Bauddha are drawn in group A while NCC, Gurukul, South Siders and Navodit are drawn in group B. NASA is the defending champion and Premier College runner up. NCC is the co-host of tournament.
