Row over Gymnastics Asiad participation

Nepal Gymnastics Association (NGA) recognized by National Sports Council (NSC) has expressed serious concern over gymnastics´ participation in the 16th Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou, China from November 12-27.

According to a press release issued by Rajeshwarman Sthapit, chief coach of the NSC-recognized NGA, gymnasts´ participation in the Asiad without the permission and recommendation of the NGA recognized by NSC was against prevailing laws and such act would encourage ill practice in sports.

Some six months ago, NSC had dissolved NGA headed by Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, the president of NOC, and formed a new committee under the chairmanship of Kishor Bahadur Singh. The Pradhan-led committee has sent NGA players to the Asiad.
