According to a press release issued by ANFA on Wednesday, Khumaltar was fined Rs 10,000 and Nayabasti Rs 5,000. The two teams were involved in a brawl after Nayabasti defeated Khumaltar in the penalties and was promote to B division for the next season. [break]According to the release Khumaltar coach Pradip Maharjan tried to inflame the situation rather than calming things down. But Maharjan, the former Nepali international has not been fined.
Nat´l Sambo tourney on Saturday
KATHMANDU: Nepal Sambo Federation is organizing the Second National Sambo Tournament in Kathmandu on Saturday. According to the federation, altogether 100 players, including 25 women, will participate in the tournament that will be held at the Judo Hall of the Dasharath Stadium. The federation said there are nine weight categories each in the men and women´s section of the tournament.
Likewise, there are nine weight categories in combat sambo. The federation has also said that the tournament would be the selection for the Second South Asian Sambo Championship to be held in India in December. Sambo is a martial art game.
Triyogatsav starts on Oct 1
KATHMANDU: Triyog Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu is organizing Triyogtsav Inter School Sports Fest from October 1 to October 3 to mark the silver jubilee of the school. According to School Principal Indu Gandhi, the fest includes basketball, five-a-side football and table tennis. Separate basketball events for boys and girls will be organized but five-a-side football will only be for boys. Likewise, there will be U-14 and U-16 boys and girls´ singles as well as U-16 boys and girls´ doubles events in table tennis. "Eight schools are participating in the fest as we want our children mixing around with other children," said Gandhi.
According to her, there is trophy for the overall winners and runners-up during the fest. "We´ll decide the overall champion through point system. Winners of football and basketball will get 25 points while runners-up will get 15 points. In table tennis, the winner will collect 10 points for his/her school while the runner-up will add five points to the team," said Pratap Adhikari, sports teacher of the school. According to Adhikari, all the games will take place at Basundhara, Kathmandu and altogether 384 students will compete in the fest.
ANFA referee course concludes
KATHMANDU: A five-day long ANFA Referee Course concluded at Aanbukhaireni, Tanahu on Wednesday. According to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), 13 among the 21 participants passed the course while Manoj Gurung of Tanahu was adjudged the best trainee. Gurung received Rs 5,000 from Tanahu District Football Association for being the best trainee. Others to receive ANFA referee badge are Nabin Darlami, Sanjiv Gautam, Rabin Khatri, Sanjay Karki, Pratik Ghimire, Aash Bahadur Gurung, Kal Bahadur Gurung, Aitaram Tamang, Upen Burja, Sundar Bosel, Sanish Rana and Ashok Rana. Referee instructor Buddhi Bahadur Gurung and FIFA assistant referees Kiran Kiri and Shailesh Joshi had provided theoretical and practical knowledge to the trainee during the five-day course.

KATHMANDU: Host Gyanodaya Residential International School and Little Angels School won their respective matches in both boys and girls´ basketball in the 19th Eicher-Gyan Carnival on Wednesday. Gyanodaya thrashed St Xavier´s 39-7 in boys´ section while it thumped Galaxy 50-13 in girls´ section. Likewise, boys´ team of LA edged past Xavier International 48-33 while girls´ team beat The Excelsior 18-8. In boys´ basketball, Excelsior pulled off a thrilling 45-43 victory over Gyan Niketan while Malpi beat GEMS 39-24. In girls´ basketball, Malpi International outclassed Xavier International 17-4. Meanwhile, Army School crushed Gyanshikha 3-0, Malpi thrashed Bright Future 4-1 and Gyanodaya beat LA 1-0 in boys´ football. In boys´ volleyball, LA beat GEMS 25-17, 25-23 while Springdale pulled off a 25-21, 25-7 victory over Analjyoti. Likewise, Deepjyoti struggled past Gyankunj 25-6, 22-25, 25-7.

KATHMANDU: Som Lama and Deepak Thapa Magar entered into the second round of the First London Open Snooker Championship on Wednesday. Lama beat Rabi Thapa Magar 3-1 while Deepak Thapa Magar outclassed Maksud Uddin 3-0. KATHMANDU: Reliance International Academy A and B won their respective matches during the Second Inter School Boys´ Handball Tournament on Wednesday. Reliance A defeated Jugal 6-4 while Reliance B thrashed Amar School 10-3. Maharjan clinches gold
KATHMANDU: Ajesh Maharjan of BernHardt College clinched the gold medal of men´s singles in the Sixth Purnaman Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament on Wednesday. Maharjan defeated Rajiv Cikambanjar of Basu Higher Secondary 11-6, 11-13, 11-4, 11-8, 11-9 in the final played at the National Table Tennis Training Center, Lainchaur. Kapoor Sharma won the gold of veterans´ professional singles while Dhruba Chalise claimed silver medal. Prime College became the champion among participating colleges with two gold medals and a bronze while AVM clinched three gold medals, three silver and two bronze medals to become champion among schools. Former national champion Kabikeshari Basnet handed over prizes to the winners.
