In the men´s final Adhikari ousted Jitendra Pariyar 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets. In the women´s title clash Sulevan was forced to play all three sets against Priti Rijal. Rijal lost the first set 3-6 but made a comeback in the second set to win 6-3. However, Rijal was unable to open account in the decisive set and was hammered 6-0. [break]
The winners of both the men´s and women´s singles bagged a purse of Rs 15,500 each while the runners-up received Rs 10,500 each.
Earlier, on Thursday, men´s singles finalists Adhikari and Pariyar´s pair had won the men´s doubles title and Sulevan and Sarita Adhikari´s pair had won the women´s doubles. The winners and runners-up in the category were awarded Rs 10,000 and Rs 6,000.
The winners were awarded by Armed Police Force IGP Sanat Kumar Basnet amidst a function. Altogether 80 players including 54 men and 26 women players participated in the six-day tournament organized by the All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association.
Sports medicine course begins
KATHMANDU, June 18: More than 50 delegates from seven different countries including Nepal are participating in Int´l Olympic Committee´s Continental Sports Medicine Course that kicked off Friday in the capital.
Delegates from Bangladesh, India, China, Bhutan, Thailand, Sri Lanka and hosts Nepal are participating in the four-day course organized by the Medical Commission of Nepal Olympic Committee (MCNOC). The course aims to impart information and changes about Olympic Movement Medical Code.
Altogether 28 papers will be presented during the session by experts from Australia, Malaysia, India and Nepal. The course will be a milestone in upgrading standard of health care system for athletes, states a press release issued by MCNOC on Friday.
