KATHMANDU, June 22: Spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who had traveled to the West Indies to participate in the ICC T20 World Cup, returned home on Saturday. Lamichhane arrived in Nepal three days after the national cricket team returned home.
After the World Cup matches held in America and the West Indies, the cricket team members were divided into two groups for their return journey to Nepal.
One group, including Sompal Kami, Kushal Bhurtel, Asif Sheikh, and others, landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 10 PM on Wednesday. The other group, including captain Rohit Paudel and Gulsan Jha, arrived in Nepal at 10 AM on Thursday.

Sandeep Lamichhane could only participate in matches held in the West Indies during the World Cup as he did not receive a visa for the matches in America. He arrived in Kathmandu at 3:40 PM on Saturday on an Air Arabia flight.
Featuring in the World Cup 14 after years, Nepal was eliminated from the group stage without winning a single match.
In their first match, Nepal lost to the Netherlands by 6 wickets, and their second match against Sri Lanka was canceled due to rain. In the third match, Nepal lost to South Africa by 1 run. In their fourth and final match, they lost to Bangladesh by 21 runs, concluding their journey in the World Cup.
Lamichhane achieved a milestone by completing 100 wickets in T20 international cricket, taking 2 wickets in the match against Bangladesh. He also became the second fastest player to reach 100 wickets in T20 internationals.
