KATHMANDU, APRIL 15: The Judicial Council (JC) on Wednesday recommended to the government to empower the Special Court to take up money laundering cases, according JC spokesperson Nahakul Subedi.
Established under the Special Court Act, the Special Court hitherto has jurisdiction to take up only cases concerning corruption, treason and sedition.
Special Court convicts two individuals of money laundering
Similarly, the JC also picked appellate court judges Hari Bahadur Basnet, Gopal Parajuli, Om Subedi and Shanti Raj Subedi as chairmen for the revenue tribunals in Biratnagar, Kathmandu, Pokhara and Nepalgunj respectively.
It also chose appellate court judge Purushottam Bhandari as chairman of the Army Special Court.
