KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The Speaker of the dissolved House of Representatives, who had remained out of public view following the Gen Z protests, was seen on Thursday.



Just a day earlier, Nagarik Daily had published a report titled “Kaha chhan Sabhamukh?” seeking information about the missing Speaker. The article drew numerous comments from readers inquiring about his whereabouts.

On Thursday, Speaker Ghimire unexpectedly visited the Parliament building, which had been set on fire during the protests, to conduct an inspection.


He arrived to see the burned Parliament building nine days after the incident. Apart from a single press statement issued after the protests with the signatures of the National Assembly Chairperson and the Speaker, this marks the first public appearance of the dissolved House’s Speaker since the unrest.


The inspection was attended by former parliamentarians, including Mahesh Bartaula of the UML.
