House to elect new speaker after NA polls: Minister Pun

ROLPA, Jan 17: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun said that election for the vacant post of the speaker will take place only after the election of the National Assembly.

Minister, who is in his hometown Rolpa in course of attending various programs, said so during a press-meet on Friday afternoon. 

“No major political development will take place before the National Assembly election slated for January 23.” 

Also speaking on the occasion, Pun informed that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons will get the full shape at the earliest. “Both the commissions are to get office bearers based on a consensus in a bid to take the peace process to a safe landing,” he added. 

He also said that the leadership of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is not going to interfere in course of naming the capital of Province 5. 

Talking about MCC grants by the US, he indicated that Nepal can receive such aid after having a broader national consensus.
