Speaker leaves for Canada

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: Speaker Subas Chandra Nemwang left for Canada Saturday afternoon leading an 11-member Nepali delegation at the invitation of the Canadian government and the Canadian Bar Association.



While in Canada, Speaker Nemwang along with the Nepali delegation will hold intensive discussion on federalism with the leaders of the political parties and experts on federal affairs there.[break]



The Speaker will also hold talks with the Speaker of the Canadian parliament and the Law Minister on topics of bilateral relations and mutual interests. He will also hold discussions on federalism with them, said a source at the Legislature-Parliament Secretariat.



The Nepali delegation accompanying the Speaker includes Secretary-General of the Legislature-Parliament, Manohar Prasad Bhattarai, Nepali Congress CA member Pushpa Bhusal, UCPN (Maoist) CA member Ekraj Bhandari, CPN (UML) CA member Agni Prasad Kharel, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) CA member Ram Janam Chaudhary and officials of the Legislature-Parliament.



Although the government of Canada has given invitation for the visit until October 28, Speaker Nemwang and Secretary-General Bhattarai will cut short the visit and return home on October 25 as the prime ministerial election has been set for October 26.
