Similarly, a High Himalayan agricultural research foundation would be set up at Guthichaur of Jumla district to introduce agro technology in the crops raised in the upper hilly region.
The meeting further decided to set up a regional agriculture research centre in the far western region which would look into fishery and horticulture.
A national cow research programme would be launched in Chitwan while a national buffalo research programme at Tarahara of Sunsari, according to the meeting.
Presiding over the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai suggested the agricultural scientists to work in the country with high morale for the development of agriculture. He pledged help from the government to that end.
Technology to increase horticulture and cereals for food security need to be prioritized for some decades to come in Nepal, he suggested.
Moreover, Dr Bhattarai said a new technology to raise different crops in the dry area would be helpful to reduce poverty to some extent.
