A shout-out to graceful souls

“When I was studying in grade three, my father always said that he would bring me a book from Batar Bazar, but he never did. We used to do farming then. As farming was everything for us and I had to support my family, I did not get a chance to continue my studies. I came to Kathmandu in 2046 BS. I carry loads. In the village, people make you carry the loads but the pay is too low and slow. And the road is also not easy. But in Kathmandu, the road is easy and payment is fast,” said Subbey Mizar, 54, from Nuwakot. He currently lives at Jaisidewal, by himself. He has two sons and two daughters. His wife and mother are in Nuwakot. “After earthquake, our house was destroyed. The government has helped us and we are building our home again. But our sons don’t live with us anymore since they are married. Life goes on and I will continue this work as long as I can,” said Mizar.
