Solve border issues, NC tells govt

KATHMANDU, June 22: Nepali Congress on Monday expressed its concern over media reports on alleged border encroachment by India in Dang and other parts of the country.



According to a statement issued after a central committee meeting, the party also drew the attention of the government to the reports on the alleged encroachment and seek diplomatic effort to resolve the issue.



The party also condemned Maoist attacks on its cadres in Syangja, Doti, Jumla, Bajhang, Kaski and Kalikot districts in the recent days. "The party draws the attention of the Maoists to these irresponsible and apolitical activities," the party said, while asking the government to ensure security in the country.



The meeting also discussed about the party´s general convention. Acting President Sushil Korala said the party would hold its general convention by mid-December this year.
