The deceased is identified as Dharma Raj Tharu, who was stationed at Gorakh Daal Battalion.
The taxi he was travelling by hit a parked truck, injuring Tharu seriously, police said. He died during the course of treatment at Bharaput Hospital.
Following the accident, the taxi driver is on the run.
Meanwhile, a load truck knocked a woman and her daughter to death in Udayapur Monday morning.
The dead are Dhan Shova Rai (57) and her 25-year-old daughter Anju Rai. Shova’s another dauther Samjhana Rai was injured in the accident.
Both the deceased were killed on the way to hospital. The injured girl is undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
Following the mishap, local residents of Triyuga Municipality set the truck (Na 3 Kha 6175) afire.
