CHITWAN, July 31: A soldier from the Disaster Management Battalion at Rasauli Barrack has died following a vehicle accident in Chitwan.
On Tuesday at 7:30 PM, near Swami Chowk in Pokhara Buspark, Ward No. 1 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, a car with the registration number Ba Pra 01-028 Cha 3289, heading towards Ramnagar, collided with a motorcycle with registration number Ga 20 Pa 8318 coming from the opposite direction. The collision resulted in the death of the soldier riding the motorcycle.

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Nigam Nepali Sarki, a resident of Bhanu Municipality 12 in Tanahun. His companion, 26-year-old Dinesh Thapa from Bandipur Rural Municipality Ward No. 3 in Tanahun, sustained serious injuries. According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, Sarki succumbed to his injuries at 8:00 PM while being treated at Chitwan Medical College.
The rider lost control over the motorcycle and struck a wall after its leg guard hit the car.
The car driver, 42-year-old Raju Bhandari from Dhunibesi Municipality 7, Dhading, is currently in the custody of the District Police Office, Chitwan. The police have also impounded the car.
