Softwarica College gearing up for tech fest

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Softwarica College of IT and E-commerce will organize a tech festival on December 28 and 29.


The theme of the festival will be ‘Digitize Innovate Lead’ According to a press statement released by the college, the concept of tech festival was developed during the IT Meet v8.0 where Machine Learning Workshop was held on November 24. Meanwhile, it added that this workshop was one of the various pre-events planned by the Kathmandu University Computer Club (KUCC) ahead of the tech carnival.

The online registration for the event attracted a significantly large number of interested candidates within only a few hours due to which the intake process was put on halt. The event that boasted a capacity of 70 people was filled to the brim. The invited guest speaker, Kshitiz Mandal is an acclaimed name in the world of ML in the context of Nepal. He is the Co-Founder-Mentor at DN: AI Developers Nepal as well as a Software Engineer at FuseMachines.


Starting from installing the software required to run ML, he presented on the basics of ML, supervised learning; unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning, python basics, numpy, matplotlib example, linear regression and clustering. The program was knowledgeable and interactive with questions flowing back and forth in both directions. All in all, the pre-event concluded at 4 pm with a satisfied audience. KUCC plans on conducting many more of such pre-events on various courses of the field of IT almost every Saturday before the main IT MEET v8.0,  as per the press statement.
