The smugglers were reportedly trying to transport the fuel to Inarwa of India in motorcycles. While patrolling the border area, the team led by Assistant Sub Inspector Yadav tried to arrest the smugglers and seize the fuel tanks. Unfortunately, they failed to do so as the smugglers retaliated and ended up attacking the police team.

"They were trying to transport fuel from Nepal. Our personnel tried to stop them but they were attacked by the smugglers," said Rewati Dhakal, Inspector at the District Police Office, Parsa, adding, "As the smugglers outnumbered police, it was difficult to stop them."

He informed Republica that one of the security personnel who sustained serious injuries has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment.

Police-constable Arjun Chaudhary has sustained a serious injury to his head following the attack. He is currently undergoing treatment at Kathmandu-based Neuro Hospital, said Inspector Dhakal. Likewise, security personnel Prem Bahadur Rana sustained minor injuries in the incident.
