Smart Cell in Nawalparasi

KATHMANDU, March 22: After expanding services in 40 rural districts, Smart Telecom has commenced mobile telecommunication services of Smart Cell in Nawalparasi district from Tuesday.



“We started the service in the new district as a part of our plan to reach out to the people in the semi-urban and urban areas,” said Subhash Bajracharya, chief executive officer of the company. [break]



On the occasion, the company has also offered special scheme to its customers. “People can buy Smart Cell´s SIM card at Rs 100 and enjoy free talk time worth Rs 1, 000,” said Bajracharya. Its SIM was otherwise priced at Rs 200.



Likewise, the company has also extended the validity of its SIM for six months, which means Smart Cell´s customers would be able to make a call if they have the balance for six months even if they do not recharge through this period.



The company charges 50 paisa per minute for calls made between Smart Cell to Smart Cell during off-hours, that is, from 8 pm to 8 am. Off hour calls made to other network is charged Rs 1 per minute.



As the company has been operating in rural areas, it has also been providing a tele-medicine facility, whereby its customers enjoy medical advise from doctors of TU Teaching Hospital by dialing 4250, except on Saturday and other public holidays. “We will continue to add more services to better serve our clients as we grow,” reads a statement issued by the company.



Smart Telecom, based outside the Kathmandu Valley, has been providing VSAT services since 2009 and GSM services since 2010.
