Six ex-PMs discuss peace, statute

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Six former prime ministers met on Saturday evening and discussed the ongoing peace and constitution writing process. The meeting was held at former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal´s residence at Koteshwor.



Former prime ministers Jhalanath Khanal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Lokendra Bahadur Chand and Surya Bahadur Thapa attended the Dashain dinner hosted by former PM Nepal on the occasion of Dashian.[break]



The meeting was arranged through Nepal´s efforts. "Our discussion was focused on how the new constitution can be prepared within the extended deadline of the CA, sorting out various hurdles," said former PM Nepal, adding, "We also discussed how the peace process can be concluded at the earliest."



At the meeting, ex-PM Nepal proposed the setting up of a former prime ministers´ club. "We discussed how we can help maintain political stability," Nepal added. "We discussed the possible role of former prime ministers in economic and social development in the country."



Nepal said the meetings of former PMs will be continued.
