Security has long remained a major concern of the people in the region, said DIG Khatri. “For now, we are deploying DSPs in the six places. We will soon deploy more police personnel in the region.”
The ERPO has deputed Bidya Nanda Majhi as DSP in Itahari. “During my tenure, the police will use strategy to crack down on drug smuggling, take action against restauranteurs that promote flesh trade and discourage hooliganism in Itahari,” claimed DSP Majhi.
Lately, the area has become a hotbed for drug smuggling and locals have been repeatedly complaining that cabin restaurants are involved in flesh trade. “The police will hold an all-party meeting and develop effective strategies for discouraging anti-social activities,” added he.
The DSPs are assigned to work to improve law and order in their areas, said DIG Khatri. “Earlier, the police inspectors under Area Police Office were unable to work all out due to resource crunch,” he added.
