KATHMANDU, Sept 30: A total of six complaints have been filed against Prakash Man Singh Raut, who has been recommended for the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. According to the Parliament Secretariat, six complaints have been registered, including both procedural and personal grievances.
A total of eight complaints have been registered in the joint committee of both houses, of which six are against the proposed Chief Justice and two are against the proposed ambassadors. The envelope containing the complaints will be opened today, and the details of the complaints will be made public only after that.

On September 16, a meeting of the Constitutional Council recommended the appointment of Raut as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In a meeting of the parliamentary hearing committee held on September 19, a public call for complaints against the recommended Chief Justice Raut was made. A committee member said that six complaints against Raut had been received within the specified 10 days.
The committee meeting on September 19 also called for complaints against the recommended Chief Justice Raut, as well as against the ambassadors nominated for Belgium and Australia, Sewa Lamsal and Chitra Lekha Yadav.

The meeting of the parliamentary hearing committee has been called for 1 PM today. The Judicial Council had recommended the names of Nripadhwaj Niraula and Nityanand Pandey for the position of Supreme Court justices.
