An immediate angioplasty and “stenting” was conducted successfully by a team of doctors led Dr Bharat Rawat after Situala´s coronary angiogram test Wednesday morning revealed that the artery on left side of his heart was blocked 80 percent, according to hospital sources. [break]
He is currently recuperating in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is likely to be in the hospital for another three days. "He [Sitaula] was lucky to have received treatment before any complication like heart attack could have occurred," said Dr Rawat.
Sitaula himself thanked god that he came to see Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and met Basanta Chaudhary who insisted that he should have a thorough checkup, according to Dr Rawat. Sitaula had complained of chest pain and uneasy feeling while taking stairs with Chaudhary, the hospital chairman.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav called up hospital and inquired about his health condition. Parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Arjun Nara Singh KC and Dr Ram Sharan Mahat reached the hospital to wish Sitaula a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, NC founding leader Bhattarai, who is currently recuperating at the hospital, is likely to be discharged in a day or two.
