KATHMANDU, Jan 1: A sit-in has been organized near the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar Monday, demanding Dhankuta be made as the capital of Province No 1.
Province Assembly members from Dhankuta, businessmen and civil society leaders staged the sit-in from 8:30 am to 11:00 am, saying Dhankuta is appropriate to be made the capital of Province -1 on the basis of geography and infrastructure.
On the occasion, members of Provincial Assemblies—Indramani Parajuli, Kusum Shrestha, Leela Shrestha, Dhankuta Chairperson of Civil Society, Dorna Guragain, among others demanded that Dhankuta be made as the capital of Province 1 as it is appropriate for all the districts of the province.
Signatures collected by the 'Make Dhankuta Province Capital Campaign' calling for making Dhankuta the capital would be submitted to the Prime Minister on Tuesday.
