Simaltal bus accident: Two dead bodies found in India, Identities yet to be determined

KATHMANDU, July 19: Two more bodies of the victims of the Simaltal landslide accident have been found.


Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Armed Police Force, Shailendra Thapa, said that two more bodies were recovered in Bagaha, West Champaran India on Thursday. Both the bodies are of men and are yet to be identified. 


A team from the Indian Seema Surkchhya Bal (SSB) recovered the bodies, DSP Thapa said.

He also added that there was a problem verifying the gender of the bodies as they had started to rot. 


The District Administration Office, Chitwan, had requested the Indian border security agencies to coordinate with them in finding the bodies of the missing passengers as the bodies were recovered in the Nepal-India border area. 


The bodies of 19 passengers of two buses that went missing in Trishuli River due to a landslide on the Narayanghat-Mugling road under Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29 in Chitwan last Friday have been recovered so far. 


According to the Armed Police Force, Nepal, 14 bodies have been identified so far while the remaining five are yet to be identified. 


Last Friday morning, two buses - Angel Deluxe en route to Kathmandu from Birgunj and Ganesh Deluxe heading towards Gaur from Kathmandu - were swept away by a landslide at Simaltal of Narayanghat-Mugling road section in Chitwan. There were 65 passengers on the buses and three passengers Nandan Das, Jugeshwar Yadav and Saroj Kumar Gupta saved their lives by jumping out of the bus.
