KATHMANDU, July 29: During the search operation for the missing buses that were swept into the Trishuli River by a landslide at Simaltal of Chitwan district, the 19 kg magnet lost by the Indian search team has been recovered.

On July 12, the Angel Deluxe bus (Ba Prs 03-006 Kha 1516) traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu and the Ganapati Deluxe bus (Ba Pra 03-2495 Kha 001) traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur were swept into the Trishuli River following a landslide in Simaltal, Chitwan.

An Indian team, equipped with two magnets weighing 19 kg and 14 kg, was deployed to search for the missing buses. On Saturday, the 19 kg magnet was reported lost during the search. It was subsequently found in the Narayani River at Kavreghat on Sunday, along with a life buoy tube.

The Indian team, which had come to Nepal for the search operation, returned on Sunday. They reported that they were unable to locate the buses due to the high-water flow in the Trishuli River.

The buses were carrying 65 passengers, of whom 3 survived, while 62 went missing in the river. The search operation has so far recovered 24 bodies, of which 19 have been identified. Five bodies remain unidentified.
