KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Rajesh Kaji Shrestha has been elected unopposed as the chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Nepal from the recently held annual general meeting. Shrestha was elected unopposed to the position of Chairman from the general assembly.
Lokmanya Golchha has been elected as the Senior Vice Chairman of ICC, Dinesh Shrestha as the Vice Chairman for Association and Institutional sectors, Ganesh Karki as the Vice Chairman for Limited Companies, Sunil KC as the Vice Chairman for the Banking sector, Chunky Chhetri as the Vice Chairman for the Insurance sector, and Rajendra Aryal as the Vice Chairman for Associate Companies, all elected unopposed.
Similarly, Rajendra Malla has been appointed as the ex-officio Vice Chairman, and Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa has been selected as the Honorary Vice Chairman. Naresh Prasad Shrestha has been appointed as the General Secretary, Kush Prasad Malli as the Treasurer, and Ramsharan Bhandari and Rekha Ghimire as Secretaries.
ICC holds meeting with suspended CAN
The members elected are Gyanendra Dhungana, Ashok Sherchan, Ashok Agarwal, Minbahadur Gurung, Arjun Prasad Sharma, Sudesh Khaling, Ramesh Sharma, Sudarshan Chapagain, Sanjay Agarwal, Urmila Shrestha, Susan Karmacharya, Deshbandhu Basnet, Pabitra Kumar Karki, Rabichandra Singh, Bijay Shrestha, Tribhuvandhar Tuladhar, Sujan Shrestha, Biplab Paudel, Deepak Kumar Shrestha, and Poshkar Raj Paudel.
The outgoing President of the Nepal Chapter of the organization is Surendra Bir Malakar. Established in Paris, France, in 1919, this organization is the highest body for global business professionals and operates internationally with approximately 450,000 members across 170 countries. The general assembly of this organization was held on Tuesday at the Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu.
Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected Chairman of ICC Nepal, Shrestha, stated that ICC Nepal will work in a coordinated manner with the government, employers, banking and financial sectors, lawmakers, and various business associations to create a conducive business environment in Nepal.
He emphasized that the ICC, along with various international agencies, will play a crucial role in promoting investment in Nepal, boosting exports, and promoting tourism. Additionally, the organization will be important in mediating business disputes both within the country and abroad.
The ICC has established itself as a standard for providing services and facilities to both large and small businesses engaged in cross-border trade worldwide.
The ICC's main objective is to promote an open international trade and investment system to foster peace, prosperity, and opportunities for all, working every day for businesses in every sector and every field.
Neutrality and independence are key strengths of the ICC, helping the organization in developing relationships with policymakers and international institutions around the world.
