KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Laxman KC has been elected as the chairman of the International Education Providers Association of Nepal (IEPAN). The 11-member working committee elected KC as the chairman at the annual general meeting held in the capital on Friday.
Samir Thapa is outgoing chairman, while Mithilesh Kumar Jha, Bigyan Shrestha, Resta Jha, Rital Rana and Shailaja Adhikari have been elected as senior vice president, vice president, general secretary, treasurer and secretary of the working committee respectively.

The other elected members of the working committee include Tej Dhakal, Yogesh Upreti, Prabina Thapa and Rabi Phuyal. The meeting appointed Former Chairpersons Pankaj Jalan and Samir Thapa as advisors of the working committee. The newly elected chairman KC expressed his commitment to make the organization more organized and professional in the coming days.
Stating that the organization has achieved progress due to the continuous hard work of the team of the previous term chairman Samir Thapa, he promised to make it stronger during his tenure. So far 86 colleges are running under IEPAN. About 28,000 students are studying in that college annually.
In the opening session, Samir Thapa, outgoing chairman of IEPAN, organized and treasurer Rital Rana presented the financial report. Speaking at the general meeting, founder chairman and advisor Pankaj Jalan said that the organization's activities should be made more systematic for the educational improvement of the country.
Rabi Chandra Parajuli, Chairman of Education Journalists’ Network (EJoN), said that the distortions and inconsistencies seen in IEPAN should be removed. He said that if the admission process is made transparent, it will increase the popularity of the institution. Outgoing chairman Thapa said that during his tenure, the tax rate has been reduced and IEPAN succeeded in approving programs that have been postponed for a long time.
