Shrestha duo in final

KATHMANDU, Sep 30: Manila Shrestha of Kathmandu and Shiksha Shrestha of Chitwan on Thursday made it through to the final of the U-17 girls´ singles during the Second Nepal Police National Badminton Championship.



Manila edged past Shreya Pradhan (Bhojpur) 21-15, 21-15, while Shiksha defeated Swastika Budhathoki (Kaski) 21-19, 21-16.[break]



Armed Police Force (APF) are sure to lift the women´s singles title as all four players-- Samjhana Khaling, Sabina Panthi, Nangsala Devi Tamang and Puja Shrestha--of the departmental team secured semifinal spots.



Khaling ousted Jal Maya Gurung of Nepal Police Club (NPC) 21-8, 21-9 and Panthi saw off Poonam Gurung of Kaski 21-19, 25-23. Likewise, Tamang beat Merry Thapa (Banke) 21-7, 21-19 and Shrestha thrashed Mina Shrestha (APF) 25-23, 21-5.



In women´s doubles, Puja Shrestha and Nangsala Devi Tamang´s pair and Sabina Panthi and Samjhana Khaling of APF won their respective matches to book semifinal spots.



In men´s singles, national champion Bikash Shrestha of NPC, Dipesh Dhami and Indra Mahata of APF advanced into the quarterfinals winning their respective matches.
