KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Shree Gaun Sports Club has registered two victories in the ongoing Red Bull Dhorpatan UM Women’s Double League Volleyball tournament on Sunday.
Shree Gaun of Dang, in its first match of the day at Dhorpatan Sports Club’s court, defeated Springdale Academy 25-7, 25-8, 25-14 while it overcame Eastern Region Volleyball Association 25-17, 25-21, 28-26 in its second match.
In other matches of the day, TOPS Higher Secondary School, Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Meghauli Sports Foundation, and Paramount Academy also registered wins. TOPS of Western Region defeated Eastern Region 25-13, 25-6, 25-13. Meghauli lost to TAC 25-13, 25-12, 25-5 in its first match, but was able to register victory over New Diamond Sports Club (NDSC) 25-14, 25-7, 25-11 in its second match. Unlucky NDSC also faced another defeat of the day as it lost to Paramount Academy 15-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20.
Shivam New Diamond Academy, who has remained unbeaten in the tournament, sits at the top of table with 30 points from 10 games. Trailing behind is Armed Police Force (APF), who has 27 points from 9 games. APF is also unbeaten in the tournament. Nepal Police Club is in third with 27 points from 11 games. TOPS, TAC and Shree Gaun remains at the fourth place with 18 points each from 10 games. Meghauli has collected 14 points. These teams occupying up to the seventh place of the table are almost certain to book their places to the second round of the league. The final games of the first round will be concluded on Monday while the second round will start from Tuesday, according to the organizers.
On Monday, the top two teams, Shivam New Diamond and APF will battle for a place at the top of table.
