KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Shivam New Diamond Academy has reached the semifinals of the 1st PABSON-School Commission U-18 Men and Women’s Volleyball Tournament. New Diamond defeated Chitwan’s Meghauli Sports and Education Club 25-11, 25-16 and 25-8 on Friday.
In the matches played at Dhorpatan Sports Training Center Court at New Buspark in Kathmandu, women’s teams of Paramount School, Dhorpatan Sports Club and Everest School also reached the last four.
Kathmandu’s Paramount beat Bhaktapur’s Springdale School 25-21, 25-19 and 25-14, while Dhorpatan saw off Pokhara’s Tops School 25-15, 27-25 and 27-25. Paramount will now face New Diamond, while Dhorpatan will play against Everest School.
Likewise, Rupandehi’s Everest School overcame Dang’s Shree Gaun Sports Development Committee 25-22, 25-13 and 25-20.
In the Men’s section, Kanchanpur’s Little Buddha Academy and Kathmandu’s Sacred Heart School have reached the semifinals.
Sacred Heart got past Budhanilkantha’s Three Star Academy 25-18, 25-23 and 25-23, while Little Buddha defeated Springdale 25-21, 25-23 and 25-17.
Newton and Dhorpatan’s match was postponed due to a protest.
In the men’s semifinals, Sacred Heart will battle against Nuwakot’s Bungtang while Little Budhha will face the winner of the remaining match between Newton and Dhorpatan.
The winners of women’s and men’s sides will bag Rs 100,000 each, while the runner-ups will be awarded with Rs 60,000 each. The third-placed team will get Rs 35,000, informed the organizers.
