POKHARA, August 23: Defending champion Shivam New Diamond Academy has reached to the semifinals of the sixth Red Bull National Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday.
In the opening day of the tournament played at Indrarajya Laxmi Secondary School’s ground, Pokhara, New Diamond registered win of 25-15, 25-19, 25-20 over Nepal Police Club (NPC).
Since the group A consist two teams only, New Diamond secured its place in the last four as group winner while despite the defeat NPC also advanced to the semifinals as group runner-up.
Meanwhile in group B match played on the same day, Western Region overcame Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center in the straight sets of 25-15, 25-17, 25-23. The other match of the same group scheduled for the same day.
The tournament being organized by the Nawa Adarsha Samudayik Bikash Samaj the occasion of Teej is featuring a total of five teams. Beside West and Jawalskhel, group B also consist Armed Police Force (APF).
In the tournament being held in league cum knockout format, the winner will be rewarded with Rs 75,101 and the runner-up will get Rs 50,101. Similarly, the second runner-up will bag Rs 20,101 and the consolation prize will be Rs 15,101.
The best player, best quicker, best libero, best spiker, best blocker, best server, best defender and the best coach will be awarded with trophies and watches.
