Shiva Sena cadres remanded for 7 days again

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu on Thursday again remanded 13 Shiva Sena Nepal cadres involved in the December 20 attack at Nepal Republic Media office to seven days of judicial custody.



According to the DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh, spokesperson at Metropolitan Police Range office, Hanumandhoka, DAO extended the judicial custody to give more time for investigation. "We need some more time for proper investigation," Singh said.[break]



The cadres of Shiv Sena Nepal had stormed the offices of Nepal Republic Media at JDA Complex objecting to the news published in Shukrabar, a sister publication of Republica, and assaulted the Kishor Nepal, the editor-in-chief of Nagarik and Shukrabar.



Since the incident, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachachhadar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, various ministers and leaders from political parties among others have visited Nepal Republic Media and enquired about the incident. They also expressed solidarity with the press freedom and condemned attack.
