KATHMANDU, Dec 27: A new addition was spotted at Obsession two months back— a fashion store in Durbar Marg, Kathmandu—known for its dresses. A set of IsaDora make ups—a Swedish cosmetic line—occupied a small corner of the store. Presently, the assortment of cosmetics has been extended into a bigger space. [break]

L and L House of Commerce, the country distributor of this Swedish high-end make-up line introduced the brand in the Valley in October of this year. “Currently the brand is housed in Obsession due to problems of space but by February 2010 there will be an exclusive IsaDora store at Durbar Marg itself,” informs Rubina Rana, the Sales & Marketing Manager of the company.

IsaDora was established in 1983 by Invima AB Company in Sweden. Now the brand sells across nearly 6000 stores in more than 35 countries.

“The cosmetic line offers high quality products at an affordable price range,” says Rubina on the selection of this particular brand. “Besides, this is one of the most widely used brands in neighboring countries like Singapore,” adds Rubina, who recently visited the brand factory in Malmo, Sweden and participated in a six-day training session.

From lash booster mascaras that make lashes appear longer to different types of make-up accessories, the brand has a wide range of products lined up with the label of “clinically tested and fragrance free”. The assortment also includes mineral make-ups, which are the latest buzz in the beauty industry.

“We have selected products keeping in mind the changing times,” Rubina says adding, “These days even 16-year-olds use make-up products and IsaDora caters for them as well.”

“There are four different kinds of foundations. For instance, for a working woman the foundation contains sun-block and remains intact for long office hours. We also have ones with anti-wrinkle agents,” explains Rubina.

Testing kits are placed ahead of every type of makeup, which are arranged in two different palettes. “Firstly we assist buyers to test the products, so that they can select the items that suit their skin type,” says the sales attendant Nimita Shrestha Joshi, a certified beautician. Along with her, Sumitra Maharjan, also a certified make-up artist, assists the costumers to select products.

“This time we introduced the bridal hamper a little late but for the coming wedding season we’ll make sure that the packages will be ready on time,” says Rubina on the bridal make-up package that is still available at the store.

The hamper has amassed basic make-ups keeping the requirement of the Nepali brides in mind. “There are two types of hampers—for lighter and darker tones,” apprises Rubina. And the same goes for Christmas and New Year special packages.

“We offer products according to the season,” says the manager, who will represent Nepal in the upcoming IsaDora distributor conference in Stockholm. IsaDora entered Nepal with its autumn collection “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The present winter collection theme on display is entitled “Snow Fairy”.
