Playing off 7 handicap, Ang Tshiring accumulated 40 stableford points. Tendi Sherpa, playing off 11 handicaps, scored 38 stableford points to finish runner-up. [break]
The tournament sponsored by the Everest Bank Limited was played under stableford format with ¾ handicap.
In the team event, team Nepal represented by Ang Tshiring Sherpa, Tashi Tshiring (Dong) and Tendi Sherpa scored 78 points to clinch the title.
Team Malayisa represented by Tan Sri Aseh Mat, Md Al Amin, and Ahmed Amin Esa scored 68 points to finish runner-up.
Each team consisted of 3 players and two best scores were counted for a team´s total score. Altogether 14 teams from Nepal, Malaysia, India and the United Kingdom took part in the tournament. Japan and Korea pulled out of the tournament in the last minute.
Wangchen Dondhup received the best gross award with the gross score of 33 stableford points.
Rabindra Raj Pandey claimed the award of the best senior golfer with 33 stableford points while Rekha Ghimire scored 28 stableford points to win the best lady golfer award. Tashi Ghale won the closest to the pin award as his ball was two feet from the 10th hole. Gopal Chitrakar won the longest drive award. Tashi Tsering won the most birdies prize.
According to the host Gokarna Golf Resort, the annual event is organized to celebrate Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
Deputy Prime Minister Mr Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire, CEO of Everest Bank PK Mohapatra, and Advisor of Malaysia Nepal Business Council Tan Sri Aseh Mat gave away the prizes to the winners.
On the occasion Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Tiara Malaka Golf & Country Club signed a memorandum of understanding for affiliations between the two clubs. Now the members of both the clubs can enjoy golfing at the each other´s facilities.
