Sher Bahadur Tamang and Ushakala Rai join NCP’s Oli camp

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Sher Bahadur Tamang, a former minister and a key leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and Ushakala Rai, a member of Province 1 Assembly have joined the KP Sharma Oli-led faction of the NCP.

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Sher Bahadur Tamang, a former minister and a key leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and Ushakala Rai, a member of Province 1 Assembly have joined the KP Sharma Oli-led faction of the NCP. 


Following the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on December 20 last year, they were, however, in the rival faction of the NCP led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Tamang, a member of the dissolved HoR from Sindhupalchowk-2 and his spouse Rai  will formally join the faction at a mass gathering to be organized by the faction in Biratnagar later today. 


Tamang had also served as the Minister for Law , Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in the PM Oli-led Cabinet. He had stepped down from the post on July 24, 2018 following public outcry over his controversial remarks on Nepali female students pursuing medical studies in Bangladesh.
