According to local resident Sundar Kashju, small Shaligrams are found on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, however, the big ones are rarely found. Although Shaligram is found in different colors and types, Hindus have been worshiping the black one.

Shaligram is found in Gandaki originating from Damodar Kunda and Kagbeni, the confluence of Kali coming out from Muktinath to the lower coastal areas.
