TANAHU, Jan 28: The Shaligram Kaligandaki Corridor Road is being constructed to connect Ghiring Rural Municipality-4 Manpur of Tanahun to Baudikali Rural Municipality of Nawalpur. Locals say that the construction of the 21.5 km long road has made it easy to connect the rural areas with Terai.
Dhanmaya Mishra, Information Officer of Infrastructure Office Tanahun, said that the road will be constructed as a gravel road. "This road will be built on a gravel structure," she said, "After the construction of this road, the rural area will be connected to the Terai and the traffic will also become easier." Information Officer Mishra said that the construction has reached its final stage. “The construction has reached its final stage. It seems that it will take time to build some places where there is a risk of landslides," she said.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced
An agreement was made with the construction company on 6th March, 2020 to complete the construction by 7th March 2025. According to the infrastructure office, the agreement was made for Rs 258.73 million.
The construction of this road will make it easier and shorter for the people of Nawalpur to reach Pokhara, the capital of Gandaki Province. Under the Prithvi Highway, Dulegowda-Khairenitar section of Shuklagandaki Municipality of Pokhara-Tanahun connects with Bhimad-Manpur-Phula section.
The Shaligram Kaligandaki Corridor route can be reached through Manpur of Ghiring Rural Municipality to Kaligandaki Corridor at Dedhagaun of Baudikali Rural Municipality of Nawalpur. This route is considered to be of special importance for Nawalpur.
