Her body is being kept at NC party office in Sanepa since 9 a.m. to allow people to pay her last respect. Her body will be taken to Pashupati Aryaghat for final rites and cremation later in afternoon.
Born in 2001 BS in Biratnagar, Acharya joined the movement for democracy as a Nepali Congress activist in 2017 BS after showing black flags to then king Mahendra after he sacked the first elected government in Nepal’s history and imposed authoritarian Panchayat regime.

Acharya who always promoted democratic values and ideology never surrendered to post, prestige and money.
Acharya who was elected to the parliament from Morang-5 in 2048 BS had resigned from the post of minister for forest and agriculture to protest the rampant corruption in the ministry.
The unmarried leader was elected to the parliament for a second time in 2051 BS and was made Nepal’s first woman deputy prime minister and minister for water resources in 2055 BS. She was an MA in sociology.
Acharya who also served as Nepali Congress vice-president was jailed and exiled time and again during the movement for democracy. She also worked as an underground politician for the cause of democracy.
She is known as honest, courageous and determined leader in the Nepali Congress. Before falling physically ill, she had launched a nationwide campaign calling for an end to malpractices within the Nepali Congress.
