BIRATNAGAR, Oct 8: Police have taken seven people into custody for smearing soot on the face of a 14-year-old local girl. 

Those arrested in this connection are 62-year-old Kuldeep Danuwar, 22-year-old Anita Danuwar, 40-year-old Durga Chaudhari, 21-year-old Govinda Magar, 44-year-old Harka Maya Thapa, 52-year-old Mana Kumari Tamang and 27-year-old Birjung Pariyar of Belbari-2 in Morang district. 

These people had smeared soot on the face of the girl from Devithan Danda of Belbari-2, stuck a tag with 'She is a Thief' written on it, on her body, and paraded her in the locality, the District Police Office, Morang stated. 

They have accused the girl of stealing, on October 5, Rs 700 from the purse of Anita Danuwar that was kept on a bed inside her house. 

Police rescued the girl immediately after they were informed of the mistreatment and made three arrests. Four of the arrestees were caught in course of investigation, police stated.(RSS)
