Chitwan, July 29: Police have arrested seven persons forcing even essential services vehicles off the road in course of the Chitwan banda called by the Save Hindu Nation Struggle Committee here this morning.

The banda or strike was called by the Committee demanding reinstatement of Nepal as a Hindu state in the new constitution.

Six people were arrested from Aaptari and one from Chaubiskhothi for allegedly stopping essential services vehicles including a vehicle carrying oxygen cylinders, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajan Adhikari.

The banda enforcers have gathered in major crossings of the road since early morning today to enforce the strike. As a result, baring a few motorcycles, vehicles have remained off the road. RSS
