KATHMANDU, July 8: Liu Jianchao, the head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, is scheduled to pay a four-day visit to Nepal beginning Sunday. According to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he is coming to Nepal on a political visit.

Assuming charge of the head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party in June 2022, he is scheduled to meet with leaders including President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

After assuming charge of the party's international department, he also held talks with Nepali leaders Oli, Dahal and, more recently, Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka via video conferences.

Welcoming Nepal's decision to withdraw from the US State Partnership Program (SPP), China is sending senior Chinese politician Liu to Nepal to meet with top government officials and political leaders.
